Shea Serrano is such a fun writer. His “…(And Other Things)” series has an amazing ability to make you care passionately about the things he cares about, but in such a nonchalant way. A bonus, as I’ve mentioned, is that these projects are very conducive to list-making, and I’m an all-star list-maker.
Serrano released “Hip-Hop (And Other Things)” in 2021, and I devoured it. His unique takes on rap and the deeply personal narratives he weaves into this book are so enjoyable. And as I read, I created a Spotify playlist that includes just about every song mentioned in the book, in order.
