I was about halfway through writing a post about this, but it appears Aja Romano at The Daily Dot and David Futrelle at We Hunted the Mammoth beat me to it. I’m not even mad. Go read Aja’s and David’s hilarious takedowns of the misogynistic reaction to “Mad Max: Fury Road.”
Here are a couple highlights:
As Clarey sees it, the central flaw in this film that he hasn’t seen is, well, it’s going to be starring Charlize Theron as a shaven-headed postapocalyptical badass named Furiosa. And that’s just not right, because everyone knows that women are just too damn womeny to be postapocalyptical badasses.
—David Futrelle, We Hunted the Mammoth
…The [men’s rights] community is livid at the female characters who’ve disrupted their typical moviegoing experiences by being onscreen and having a story told about them.
—Aja Romano, The Daily Dot
And when you’re done laughing at how frail the men’s rights activists’ masculinity truly is, go see “Mad Max: Fury Road.” It’s a fantastic film.
